Should you give up on entertainment?

This is a question that addresses the value of entertainment in the long run.

A more precise question would be, should you spend your life working for the purpose of entertaining yourself or just see it as a pass time in between things that are important to you?

The latter is most probably what people, in general, would say to be right but I want to address a problem about how we see the question.
Doesn't it go through our heads, "when will I be done with this task? Then I can get back to entertaining myself", like a default train of thought. If so, is entertainment just a pass time? What happens when that becomes important to you?

What each of us call entertainment is also a factor in getting the right answer. For some it may be watching TV, playing, reading and so on, branching off to even learning new skills as a pass time. So, what do you do when your done with your task? Which form of entertainment will you then pick and are you in wait for the next task or the next leisure time?

It really boils down to what is more important to us, our entertainment or the task at hand; what ultimately is the purpose of this task and our entertainment.

Sitting down and thinking about it, you can pick one over another but sometimes you may arrive at a crossroad; what aim do we have when we live our lives, is that aim worth more than our entertainment?
Thinking about what to do from this point onwards is more than just not wanting to leave any regrets but to decide which one would lead us to our objective.

For everyone, there's a different answer. I can't tell you what's right but I want to leave you to ponder on it, to ponder on whether your current character and priorities suit you and to ponder on what you should do now because even here, picking the hard path is easy and picking the easy path is hard.

Then again, if you're here for lazing around then here's a good guide:
A guide to procrastination
