An Understatement

Image
Rabindranath Tagore My college had an essay competition a few weeks ago. I was interested in giving a shot but I guess I just forgot all about it; I still wanted to write down something.  So, here’s what I have to say about one of Rabindranath Tagore’s reputed quotes, “A mind all logic is like a knife all blade. It makes the hand bleed that uses it” If you haven’t already got it, what he was basically trying to say was that if you rely wholly on reasoning devoid of sympathy or empathy, you’re going to be a bottleneck on yourself or ruin your prospects. At first, of course, I’d have to agree but at the same time, I want to disagree maybe because I’m that stubborn or just because it looked odd to me that he stated something so self-evident. Whatever the case may be, I think he got ‘logic’ all wrong and so did I but since I wanted to cook up some counter-argument against his statement one way or the other, I looked it up. en.oxforddictionaries.com defines it as “Reason

People and Animation - My rant...?

Image
There’s always a relation made between children (typically 3-12 years of age) and animation. Of course, there definitely is, given that western animation, which is globally known, caters to the kids and that is the general presumption that’s made when someone hears of anime. False Perception (´・ω・)っ Anime, if you don’t already know, is Japanese animation and has a unique art style; this is the most widely accepted meaning but there’s more. It in itself has a wide variety of genres, themes and cliches. But even anime has kids-oriented shows like Pokemon or Dragonball, so what’s the point I’m making here? Would you believe me if I said that animation isn’t just for kids? You’d probably think some people like kiddy shows but that’s not what I mean. I’m here to say that even animation is just another medium for getting deeply woven, heart-wrenching, thrilling or comedic stories. But hey, some adults still enjoy Pokemon and that’s a kids show but still, it’s their own prerogativ

The Letter

Competitive nature is what motivates a human being to be a better version of himself, but when the competition is with oneself how can someone improve?   And that’s when you came in my life. Riding my fears and my worst nightmares, armed with an arsenal of my insecurities. I admit it, I was afraid. But later realized your purpose of coming into my life, I could see you, staring at me, challenging me to beat you at every turn. Somewhere between those challenges you became my bestie. A healthy rivalry ensued between us, I knew that it was your generosity that you let me win each time, you wanted me to have confidence in myself.  I strongly believe that you made me who I am, I improved day by day just because of you. Your existence is what made my charisma glow among the various talented personalities. But deep down in the dungeons of my heart I had locked out my hate for you, because I knew that if I hated you then I wouldn’t be what I am today.  An achiever.

What remains of Edith Finch

Image
While looking for some new games to play, I came across this one. 'What remains of Edith Finch', a game developed by Giant Sparrow and published by Annapurna Interactive. This game despite being short, deserves more credit, it's the kind of game that story-crazed people would love. image source : digitally downloaded I wasn't sure of what genre it was when I first got it neither did I know it's summary, I picked it from a bunch of random games along with some others. So, when I started off the game it gave me a vibe that it's a horror; I'm not good with horror, haven't played many either. So, I decided to play this with my brother beside me. Yeah, I bamboozled myself but it turned out to be a good experience, an adventure game that offers much more. Like I said before, the game is short, probably 3 hours long, so I don't want to spoil anything by giving a detailed description of the story. image source : games news It'

Failure - Why it intrigues me

Image
“Failure is only an opportunity to begin again, only this time more wisely” - Henry Ford Failure - the moment I read this word or any of us reads this word, the immediate picture our mind creates is that of heads dropped in shame, people curled up in a dark room, thinking that their life has ended. Truly, for them it has. As for those who see failure as an opportunity, their life has just begun. Image source : Onnit.com F-A-I-L-U-R-E, a seven letter word that holds the power to shape the life of a person depending upon how he reacts to it. React positively and you come under the World’s high achievers. React negatively and you go hurtling down to a life of ever long depression. What amazes me is that, according to me this word is the second most dangerous weapon of destruction because last time I checked, nuclear weapons still remain the first. Not only can this word break the will power that drives the human soul but can also damage the mindset of even the most moti

Should you give up on entertainment?

Image
This is a question that addresses the value of entertainment in the long run. A more precise question would be, should you spend your life working for the purpose of entertaining yourself or just see it as a pass time in between things that are important to you? Image source: unrealengine.com The latter is most probably what people, in general, would say to be right but I want to address a problem about how we see the question. Doesn't it go through our heads, "when will I be done with this task? Then I can get back to entertaining myself", like a default train of thought. If so, is entertainment just a pass time? What happens when that becomes important to you? What each of us call entertainment is also a factor in getting the right answer. For some it may be watching TV, playing, reading and so on, branching off to even learning new skills as a pass time. So, what do you do when your done with your task? Which form of entertainment will you then pi

The planet Earth is verily home to the most exotic of views, scenarios, habitations and sights. No wonder people find joy in travelling. In this article I have tried to list out few places that one must visit (or at least I must visit) to have a look at the wonders of nature. Although these places are few, and everyone has their opinions, but I do believe that among the finest of natural places, these sights somewhere find a place in my list. But as I said, I do have other places on my list, and that list being a long one; I have only mentioned some of them. Comment down below which places you think should be visited at least once. Note :- This isn’t any form of rating/countdown. The places have been mentioned in a random sequence. And the most common of places like Heritage sights, Wonders of the World etc. have not been mentioned. We are also not gonna talk about Haunted places.
